teensYoung Adult Summer Reading Club ~ Build a Better World
June 19th-August 9th

Young Adults in Oakland (Grades 6-12) can register downstairs at the Adult/YA Reference Desk.  You choose the books you want to read.  When you finish a book, let us know by submitting a completed entry form.  Paper entries are submitted by dropping them in a box at the Library.  Online entries are submitted through our Beanstack website https://oaklandpubliclibrary.beanstack.org/reader365.

Oakland Residents Ages 12-18

Young Adults in Oakland (ages 12 - 18) will photograph images that capture the natural beauty and spirit of Oakland.  Artists can photograph whatever and whomever they wish in the Borough of Oakland with the understanding that the winning photographs will adorn the wall of the renovated library when it reopens in September 2017.

  • A panel of judges will consider content, style, and execution.
  • Registration begins June 19. Submissions are due by August 11. The winner will be announced at the YA Summer Reading party on August 16.
  • 4x6 photograph submissions only. Please include name and contact information on the back of the 4X6 photograph.

Thinking of Building a Better World by helping out in your community? Volunteers, grade 6 and up can volunteer at the Oakland Library this summer. Please contact Mr. Ned for information on how to sign up.

Partnership with Driving-Tests.org

The Oakland Public Library has a NEW partnership with Driving-Tests.org, allowing patrons free access to a Driver Education program which contains the following NJ state-specific information:

 - 11 car practice tests
 - 9 motorcycle practice tests
 - 10 CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) practice tests and more!
